What are the Matachines?
¿Que Son Los Matachines?

These Matachines are individuals who have a particular devotion to our Lady of Guadalupe and pray to her through their specific dance steps.

Matachines tienen una devoción muy espe-cial para Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe y le rezan a ella por medio de sus pasos de las danzas.

Active in the Parish
Activos en la Parroquia

From the beginning, the Matachines have instrumental in promoting family and friendship, participation in parish wide events, and in showcasing the Hispanic culture. They brought the Day of the Dead celebration and altar in 2009 and 2010. They provided a Flower workshop that drew more than thirty women to learn to make and then create the colorful paper flowers for the parish. They volunteered to help other organizations and at other functions and drew attendance from the Matachines members and their families. They have represented Santa Catalina at the Diocese Rosary event in 2011 and have been asked to bring the danzas to other parishes.

Desde el comienzo, los Matachines han sido instrumental en promoviendo la familia y amistad, participación en eventos parroquiales y nuestra cultura Hispana. Celebraron el Día de los Muertos con altares en 2009 y 2010 y organizaron un taller para hacer flores donde enseñaron a mas de 30 mujeres hacer flores para la parroquia. Miembros se han dando de voluntarios para apoyar a otras organizaciones y funciones e invitamos a nuestras familias. Han representado a Santa Catalina en el evento del Rosario de la Diócesis en 2011 y han sido invitados a llevar las danzas a otras parroquias.
